On this International Labour Day, we at Desert Group want to do something simple: say thank you. Not in a press release way, but genuinely, and from the ground up.
People Are Our Product
Desert Group has grown over the decades into one of the UAE's most diverse landscape and horticulture businesses. Across our divisions the work we deliver is physically demanding, technically precise, and often happens before sunrise or under a midday sun that most people would choose to avoid.
What makes that possible is not equipment or systems alone. It is the expertise and commitment carried by every single member of our team, from the horticulturalist managing a championship golf course to the nursery hand who knows each plant by name.
Our teams maintain some of the UAE's most iconic green spaces: Jumeirah Golf Estates, home to the Race to Dubai; Dubai Hills Golf Course; the Montgomerie Golf Club; and resort gardens at properties that set the benchmark for luxury. The standard our clients expect is high, and it is our people who meet it, day after day.
What Labour Day Means to Us
Labour Day is not just a public holiday on the calendar for us, it is an opportunity to reflect on what work really means inside Desert Group. Our tagline, "Enhancing lives is our passion", begins with the lives of our own team members. A person who feels valued, healthy, and supported at work brings that same care to everything they do in the field.
This is why we continue to invest in training pathways, career progression, and the wellbeing of every person who is part of the Desert Group family. It is also why, this Labour Day, we organised something concrete: a free medical camp for our staff.
What Labour Day Means to Us
On 1 May 2026, Desert Group hosted a medical camp at our offices, giving staff across our teams the opportunity to undergo health checks — blood pressure readings, blood glucose tests, and medical consultations all at no cost and during working hours.
The turnout was encouraging and the conversations that followed were a reminder of something important: people notice when they are looked after. A simple health check is, in many ways, a statement of intent, it says that the organisation cares about more than what you produce in a day's work.
We are grateful to the medical professionals from Aster DM Healthcare who gave their time and expertise to support our team today.
Looking Ahead
The UAE's landscape and horticulture sector is evolving rapidly towards sustainability, water-smart design, and more intelligent use of the land. Desert Group is proud to be at the forefront of that shift, from our xeriscaping expertise to our BALI-accredited standards. But the evolution we are most invested in is a human one: building a workplace where people grow professionally, feel secure, and take real pride in what they help create.
